The Bungalow Deck

For this project, we wanted to create a deck that matched the charm and scale of the bungalow it connects to—something unpretentious but inviting, with room to relax, host, and enjoy the garden view. We designed a low-profile platform deck that feels like a natural extension of the home’s footprint. The layout includes multiple seating zones—some tucked under the freestanding pergola for shade, others open to the sky for morning coffee or evening stargazing. We chose composite decking for durability and ease of care, accented by subtle railings and planters that help the space blend beautifully into the existing garden beds. The result is a modest-sized deck that punches well above its weight in comfort, flow, and everyday enjoyment.
