The Built-In Seating Deck

When we designed this deck, our goal was to create a multifunctional outdoor space that could flex effortlessly between quiet evenings and group gatherings. Built-in bench seating became a central feature—not only for comfort and durability, but to anchor the layout with clean lines and clear zones. We wrapped the seating around the deck’s perimeter to maximize usable space while keeping the floor plan open. A contemporary pergola adds vertical interest and softens the transition from house to deck, while integrated planters and low lighting complete the experience. This is a great example of how smart design choices—like built-in elements and material continuity—can turn a modest footprint into something that feels expansive, cohesive, and completely tailored to the way our clients live.
